President Bola Tinubu has expressed sympathy to families affected by the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the incident as a painful tragedy that has shaken the nation.

In a statement issued on Monday, the President said he shared the grief and anxiety of parents, relatives, and community members following the attack on the Esiele and Yawota communities. The incident has renewed concerns about the safety of schools and students across the country.

Tinubu stressed that schools should remain safe environments for learning, noting that no child should be subjected to the trauma of being taken from the classroom. He said the government remains committed to protecting students and preventing similar attacks.

The President also extended his condolences to the family of the late teacher, Mary Oyedokun, who lost her life during the attack. He described her death as a heartbreaking loss and praised her dedication and service.

According to Tinubu, the sacrifice of the slain teacher would not be forgotten. He assured her family that they would receive support and would not be abandoned during this difficult period.
