Margaret Attah, one of the survivors of the devastating Owo church attack, has spoken about the lasting impact of the tragedy, saying that no court judgment can restore the parts of her body she lost during the incident.

Reacting to the recent verdict involving individuals connected to the attack, Attah said she appreciates the pursuit of justice but remains burdened by the physical and emotional consequences of the violence. She recalled the horrific events of June 2022 when armed terrorists attacked worshippers at a church in Owo, Ondo State, leaving dozens dead and many others injured.

According to Attah, the attack resulted in the loss of both her legs and one eye, injuries that permanently altered her life. While she welcomed the court’s decision, she stressed that the ruling cannot reverse the suffering she has endured since the incident.

“Justice cannot restore my legs or my eye that were lost to the terrorists,” she said, reflecting on the painful memories and challenges she continues to face.

The Owo church attack remains one of the most shocking acts of violence against a place of worship in Nigeria in recent years. The incident drew widespread condemnation from within and outside the country, while survivors and families of victims have continued to seek support and healing.

The latest court judgment has renewed conversations about justice for victims of terrorism, national security, and the need for stronger rehabilitation and compensation programs. Many Nigerians have also expressed sympathy for Attah and other survivors, calling for sustained assistance to help them rebuild their lives.
