Governor Alex Otti has commissioned 14 newly completed road projects across Aba as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and accelerate economic development in Abia State.

The projects, located within Osisioma, Aba North, and Aba South Local Government Areas, were officially inaugurated during a ceremony in Aba. The governor described the development as another key achievement of his administration’s urban renewal programme aimed at transforming the commercial city.

Among the roads commissioned are Aro Amano–Eke Aro Road, Adaelu Road, Geometric Road, Afule Road, Assemblies of God Church Road, Nwogu Ajagba Street, Nwala Street, Sacred Heart Street, Elizabeth Avenue, Nigerian Brewery Ring Road, Etche Road, Mosque Road, Crystal Park Road, and Kingdom Hall Street.

Speaking at the event, Otti said the road projects were designed to improve movement within the city, reduce traffic congestion, and strengthen industrial and commercial activities in Aba. He noted that Geometric Road, once in a poor condition, has now become a thriving industrial hub attracting businesses and economic opportunities.

The governor also explained that Afule Road was strategically developed to serve as an alternative route to ease traffic pressure on the busy Aba–Owerri Road. He added that the rapid completion of Adaelu Road reflects the efficiency and dedication of his administration’s project execution teams.

In addition to commissioning the roads, Otti flagged off the construction of the first phase of the Aba Ring Road project under the Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA). The 4.9-kilometre bypass is expected to reduce congestion within Aba and improve access to neighbouring states including Akwa Ibom and Cross River.

Governor Otti stated that the projects were completed with durable infrastructure standards, including proper drainage systems and street lighting, to ensure long-term benefits for residents. He described the developments as evidence of progress as his administration marks three years in office.
