Former Presidential Candidate Of labour Party, Peter Obi has been officially cleared by the National Screening Committee of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the party’s presidential primaries for the 2027 general elections.
The clearance followed the conclusion of the party’s screening exercise, which assessed aspirants seeking to contest under the NDC platform in the upcoming presidential election.
With the screening process completed, Obi emerged as the only aspirant vying for the party’s presidential ticket, placing him in a strong position ahead of the primaries.
Political observers say the development could further strengthen Obi’s influence within the party as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually gather momentum across the country.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is expected to continue internal consultations and strategic planning in the lead-up to the official commencement of campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
