A kidnapped school principal in Oyo State has released another distress video from captivity, claiming that the abductors are threatening to kill one of the victims if urgent action is not taken.
The principal, who was abducted alongside students and other staff members, appeared visibly distressed in the video circulating on social media. In the footage, the victims appealed to the government and security agencies to intensify rescue efforts, warning that their lives remain in grave danger.
According to the principal, the kidnappers have allegedly selected one of the captives to be executed. The emotional plea has sparked fresh fears over the safety of those still being held by the armed group.
“We are begging the government and security agencies to save us. They want to kill one of us,” the principal reportedly said in the video.
The latest distress message has triggered widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the increasing number of kidnappings targeting schools and communities across the country. Parents and residents have also called for immediate intervention to prevent further tragedy.
Security challenges linked to abductions for ransom have remained a major concern in several parts of Nigeria in recent years. Schools, particularly in vulnerable communities, have repeatedly become targets of criminal gangs seeking financial gain through kidnappings.
Although authorities are said to be working to secure the release of the victims, no official statement had been issued regarding the latest video as of the time this report was filed.
The incident has further intensified public debate over insecurity in the country, with many citizens urging the government to strengthen protection for schools and improve emergency response measures against kidnappers.
