A relative of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially joined the race for the 2027 River State governorship election, declaring his intention to run under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
He announced his political ambition while pledging to serve only one term if elected, a promise he says is aimed at promoting effective governance and allowing for smoother political transition in the state.
According to him, his decision to join the governorship contest is driven by a desire to contribute to the development of Rivers State and address what he described as key governance challenges facing majorly the oil-rich region and other areas of the state.
He further stated that his administration, if elected, would focus on stability, economic growth, and improved welfare for residents, while maintaining a commitment to accountability and public service.
The declaration has already begun generating political interest in Rivers State, as stakeholders monitor emerging alignments and early campaign signals ahead of the 2027 general elections.
