Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has expressed confidence that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi still stands a strong chance of becoming Nigeria’s president in 2031 after the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a recent interview with the honest bunch podcast, the actor reflected on the 2023 general elections, noting that Obi enjoyed massive popularity across different parts of the country during the campaign period.
According to Edochie, many politicians allegedly benefited from Obi’s popularity and public support to secure political victories during the elections. He claimed that even candidates with little political influence reportedly leveraged Obi’s name and movement to gain support from voters, and how people who where tricycle riders became victorious in the election using his good name and influence of his party.
The actor, however, pointed out that despite the widespread influence associated with Obi’s political movement, the former Anambra State governor did not emerge victorious in the presidential election, stating that his political destiny lies in APGA.
Edochie stated that the level of support Obi received in 2023 shows he still has a realistic opportunity of becoming Nigeria’s president in the future, especially in the 2031 election cycle.
